In 2003, Precinct completed the comprehensive re-branding of engineering firm Lincolne Scott, beginning a long and fruitful association. A key element in Lincolne Scott’s revitalization was the re-branding of its boutique sub-brands, Advanced Environmental and Vision Design (lighting and theater design). Advanced Environmental, the sustainable engineering wing of the firm, gave Lincolne Scott a clear competitive advantage.
The re-brandings became the cornerstone of the company’s ascension to market leadership. Historically, Lincolne Scott has been a traditional engineering firm. Advanced Environmental is a green engineer, an environmentally focused, visionary outfit at the cutting edge of mainstream engineering. Together they offer a formidable proposition – trusted and traditional yet differentiated by groundbreaking sustainability credentials. The unity of Lincolne Scott and its Advanced Environmental sub-brand is at the very heart of the strategy Precinct has partnered with the firm. Precinct is now engaged in building the company into a global brand.
In 2008, thanks to the remarkable success of Lincolne Scott and its boutique sub-brands, the company was acquired by the UK’s WSP Group, one of the fastest growing design, engineering and management consultancies in the world. Precinct provided strategic marketing advice to WSP Group, which led to retention of the Lincolne Scott brand under the WSP umbrella.
Precinct has also been working with the company to ensure that it is not only a global leader from a brand perspective, but also a global employer brand. Engineering is an extremely competitive field and attracting the cream of engineering graduates and engineers is an important factor in ensuring innovation and positive growth.
